Eden works with a single tanning house in Santa Croce sull'Arno, the same one our mothers worked with. We cut by hand. We stitch by hand. We buy our hides one at a time, in small lots, by color and character, and we tell you where each one came from if you ask. Everything we make is meant to be carried for thirty years.
A small collection, updated when a new hide arrives or a new form is finished. Priced pieces are in stock. Others are by commission, two to six weeks.

Vegetable tanning takes forty days. It uses chestnut bark, mimosa, quebracho, the same tannins Tuscans used six centuries ago. The leather that leaves that tannery carries the color of the bark, the grain of the animal, and a smell you do not forget. Everything Eden makes is cut from this leather, never coated, never corrected. It is meant to scar and to darken, to become something that is no longer new.
The workshop is on the ground floor of an old palazzo, two streets from Piazza Santa Croce. Four benches. Two windows. A door that is often open because the light is better that way. If you come to Florence, we would rather have you visit than send you a catalogue.
Visits are by appointment only. We are a small team, and we would like to give you an hour when you arrive, not two minutes between cuts.
We take a small number of bespoke commissions each year. A briefcase in a leather you choose, a weekend bag in a dimension you need, a monogrammed card case. Consultations are by email or in person at the atelier. Lead time is typically six to ten weeks.
